WebGIS

SITAR WebGIS allows users to visualize on a map, query and acquire data on thousands of archaeological studies conducted by the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio in the territory of the Municipality of Rome. Specific functions allow users to customize the map layers, search and filter individual studies and/or finds, explore their contents, measure areas and distances, freely download with CC-BY-SA 4.0 licensed data in various open vector (JSON, KML, SHP), raster (GEOTIFF, SVG) and textual (geojson, csv) formats, and print plates in various formats. To ensure more dynamic webGIS browsing, new tools have been designed for active participation and personalized browsing: the booklet is the tool that allows users to create their own customized libraries with the datasets they are most interested in; the request for change, on the other hand, allows users to open a discussion with the administration, becoming active participants with the ability to suggest potential changes to the dataset or report unpublished novelties. Since the platform belongs to a public institution and must thus guarantee the accuracy of the data, it will be verified before publication both by the SITAR Office and by the relevant staff members in charge. Finally, thanks to interaction with the main social media platforms, SITAR contents can be shared through various channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
